4 Victims Shot at Howe Community Park Sacramento — Unauthorized Event Results in Shooting





Saturday night, an unapproved gathering of multiple hundreds of attendees at Howe Community Park in Sacramento's Arden-Arcade neighborhood ended in a shooting when 20 to 25 gunshots echoed through the area as deputies from the Sacramento County Sheriff's Office were in the process of clearing the area.

How It Unfolded

Around 6:30 in the evening, the SCSO was alerted concerning individuals who may have been carrying concealed weapons at Howe Community Park in Sacramento. A second report indicated a potential physical confrontation and people running from the area.

Aerial units was sent to the area and conducted an aerial search but failed to identify an active fight.

At the same time, hundreds of individuals had gathered at the park for what officials called an unauthorized gathering. Officers set up around the park, activated their vehicle emergency lights, and spent approximately 15 minutes directing the crowd to leave through their vehicle PA systems.

As officers worked to clear the park, between 20 and 25 shots rang out — causing hundreds to flee in all directions at once.

Shooting Victims

Four shooting victims — a female and three male victims, all believed to be in their 20s — were taken to Sacramento area hospitals. Two were treated for immediate injuries, one suffered moderate injuries, and one suffered injuries classified as minor. Each of the four victims was in stable condition. Sacramento Metro Fire responded and assisted with triage at the park.

The Crime Scene

The crime scene was located on the Cottage Way side side of the park in the vicinity of the more info nearby Home Depot at the 2200 block. The Home Depot store was briefly placed on lockdown. Surveillance footage confirmed the involvement of two shooters.
